In the last three years we got rid of single use plastic bags, banned the use of plastic microbeads, and kicked off work to increase recycling and reduce waste. Today we announced the next steps. Our plan is to...
Prevent: by phasing out difficult to recycle single-use plastics and creating a fund to research and develop alternatives.
Reduce: by investing in waste infrastructure and projects, which will create jobs.
Recycle: by making it harder to export plastic waste and easier to recycle domestically. Waste is one of the biggest issues children write to me about. I’m determined that we do better for them, for our oceans, and for our environment.
